Robert Griffin III is Voted Heisman Trophy Winner

Robert Griffin III Is Voted Heisman Winner

Robert Griffin III is the winner of the 2011 Heisman Trophy.  This year's Heisman race had an ever-changing front runner as the weeks passed.  Andrew Luck started out the year as the favorite but others such as Russell Wilson, Brandon Weeden and Marcus Lattimore all saw their names atop the unofficial Heisman leader boards.

The names came and went.  Only five remained by season's end.  Two quarterbacks (Griffin and Luck), two running backs (Trent Richardson and Montee Ball) and one defensive player (DB Tyrann Mathieu).  Each player displaying the talent to be winner with the numbers to back it up.

One player stood above them all.  The man they call RG3.  He started his Heisman campaign in the seaon opener vs TCU where he threw for 359 yards with five touchdowns to only six incompletions.  INCOMPLETIONS.

He never looked back.  He compiled ridiculously eye-popping stats throughout the season.  He ended the season with just shy of 4,000 yards and 47 combined touchdowns.  That was enough to become Baylor's first Heisman winner in the history of the program.  Congratulations, Mr. Griffin.  You've played "outstanding."
