Ahmad Brooks Re-signs With San Francisco
It's a good day to be Ahmad Brooks. He's probably sitting back enjoying his day, counting his money. It might take a while. Brooks just landed a six year, 44.5 million dollar deal. 17.5 million is "guaranteed". We'll probably see later in the week if it's guaranteed or if it's some kind of roster bonus. Either way, Brooks' return will keep the best linebacker corps intact.
Ahmad Brooks has come a long way from the 2006 Supplemental Draft. He was taken in the third round by the Bengals. He was waived by Cincinnati just before the start of the 2008 season.
Insert San Francisco. He was picked up by the Mike Singletary-led San Francisco and moved from middle linebacker to strong side linebacker in the 3-4 defense. Just last year he recorded a career high seven sacks which led to his new deal. Brooks is also a key cog in what is the best run defense in the NFL.
At just 27, Brooks looks to be going nowhere but up. He's worth every bit of the money, especially with the 49ers having so much cap room. Cornerback Carlos Rogers looks to be next up before they possibly turn their attention to a big name wide receiver in free agency.
