Our Stanford Routt Post

Stanford Routt Agrees to Terms with Kansas City

Stanford Routt has switched teams within the AFC West division.  Routt was released by the Oakland Raiders in order to avoid $5 million of his expected $10 million salary became guaranteed.  He has found a new suitor in the Chiefs.

They've agreed to a 3-year, $20 million contract.  My math says that comes out to seven million annually.  $6.5 million is guaranteed.  With him scheduled to make $11 million in his first year, Routt will presumably assume a starting role in Kansas City.
It looks like he is replacing free agent Brandon Carr.  There have been rumors that Oakland will attempt to sign Brandon Carr once free agency opens.  If so, it would essentially be a trade with the Raiders needing youth and affordability and the Chiefs looking for a shutdown corner, which Routt has shown he could be in flashes.
