Hue Jackson is Out As Raiders' Head Coach
Just when it looked like Jackson was safe, he's been fired. Jackson was a rookie head coach. He took control of a team that was 8-8 the previous (He served as offensive coordinator a year ago.). He did improve on the 8-8 record. The Raiders set a new records for penalties and penalty yards in a season. He gave up a first and second round pick for a quarterback who threw more interceptions (16) than touchdowns (13). He did have his boss, Al Davis, die during the season.
He was to a rookie head coach, who stil remained as the team's play-caller. And once Davis passed, he became the de facto General Manager. It was too much for a rookie head coach to juggle. This firing is a strong message that Reggie McKenzie is going to have some serious changes in Oakland.
What's next for McKenzie's Oakland Raiders? I suppose Winston Moss will get first look at the Head Coaching vacancy. It'll be interesting to see whether or not Al Saunders sticks as the offensive coordinator.
